On June 19, 1877, Charles and Herbert Larus opened their tobacco business in a small factory in Richmond, Virginia. The Larus & Brother Company, also commonly known as The House of Edgeworth, was best known for their Edgeworth pipe tobaccos.
Here we have a rare find: A House of Edgeworth Extra High Grade Plug Slice Smoking Tobacco Tin C. 1940. It is 3-1/2" high, 4-1/4" wide, and, expect for a bit of superficial rust on the top and inside, it is in very good condition. This Edgeworth Tobacco Tin has retained the handsome hue of its blue paint and still retains the gold plate on the bottom and under the lid.
The inside of the lid states the Larus & Bro. Co. guaranty for its Edgeworth Tobacco -- “We will cheerfully refund money to any dissatisfied purchaser.” What a wonderful addition this Vintage Edgeworth Tobacco Tin would make to anyone’s collection of tobacciana. It would also make a wonderful display in any country-themed interior.
