Goodoletom's, the place where "Rarity is Common" is pleased to offer a set of a demitasse cup and saucer by CH Field Haviland Limoges. These delicate pieces of bone china would be an elegant addition to any collection.

The story began with some broken tableware back in the 19th century in New York. Looking to replace the porcelain, a rich French aristocrat went in search of quality fine china and came across the Haviland family.

By the middle of the 19th century several of the male members of the Haviland family had moved to Limoges, France, and set up their own china making factories.

One of these was Charles Field Haviland, who, having worked for his uncle, bought up the porcelain factory of his wife's family in 1858. His wife was the grand-daughter of Fran?ois Alluaud, one of the very first to make porcelain in Limoges

The cup has a floral design in pinks and blues painted on the bottom of the interior as does the saucer. The wide border of kelly green is accentuated with a gold rim.

The cup stands 1 1/2 inches high, and 3 1/2 inches wide. The saucer stands 1/2 of an inch high, and 4 1/2 inches wide. The set weighs about 125 grams. These pieces are in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
